TYPHOON

Those photos were released by the associated press. The storm hit us at about 2 am on Thursday morning and we slept through the worst of it. "Slept through" may not be the best phrasing. How often does one get woken up at 3 am by rain? In my case, not often, and this was some loud rain. Also, the wind made it feel like the house was going to get ripped apart. Fortunately, we're not on the southern coast, which was hit the hardest and sadly there were several fatalities. On the streets of Tokyo, however, it was nothing more than comically strong gusts of wind, rain, and many hundreds of broken inside out umbrellas.

In the morning the wind was still very strong and forceful sounding, but when we went outside the streets had already been cleaned up and aside from the occassional wind gust, it seemed perfectly normal. Turned out to be a nice, sunny day!
